Everywhere you look you will see cute fun headbands and hair accessory's. It may be hard to get into this trend but just take step back and try a small flower here or a peacock feather there. You will feel a bit out of place at first but that is OK...fashion is all about taking risks. Sometimes its a hit sometimes it a miss but as long as you have more "hits" than "misses" you are on the right fabulous track!
For ideas check out Shop Band Do this website has some great hair pieces that are amazing! Just a heads up some of the pieces are a bit pricey but that is OK. Just take a look and then go to Hobby Lobby, Ross, Target, Michaels, or any craft store and re-create these looks for a fraction of the cost.
Warning: remember to not go over the top or put anything on your head that a toddler would wear. Be sure it adds to the outfit in a classy/trendy way! Be bold, be daring, just be careful you don't want to look like a bird just landed on your head!

How to pick the right summer color for your skin tone
Picking the right color for YOU is super easy!
The hot colors for summer are yellow, pinks (light or dark), lime, slate blue, orange, and white.
What season are you? Use this list as a guideline for picking the right summer shade for your complexion.
Spring - Spring complexions generally have strawberry colored or light red hair, freckles, and blue or green eyes. Spring people look great in warm tones. Try yellow, gold, peach, and light pink. Only use dark colors as accessories, not as your main piece.
Summer - Summer people usually have natural blonde (or in my case, "assisted blonde" hair ha ha) or brunette hair and light colored eyes. For dressing, pick soft pastel colors and neutrals. Purples and blues are great go-to colors for summer complexions. Steer clear of neon colors.
Fall - Fall skin tones mostly have brunette or red hair with soft brown eyes. Pick colors such as orange, gold, and browns. Stay away from dark blue tones.
Winter - Winter complexions usually have dark brown or black hair with dark eyes. Winter skin tones should stick to stiff colors such as black, white, dark blue, red and bright pink. Avoid light tones in the orange or beige family.

5 easy ways to green your beauty routine in a snap
Sometimes thinking about going green seems like a daunting task. Here are 5 new beauty products that are amazing and the added bonus is they are not harmful to the environment and will not break your already fragile bank account.
Lets go head to toe:
If you are in a pinch and have no time to wash your luscious locks, try Naturia Dry Shampoo. This one of the best dry shampoos out there, and it's also made with ingredients that will not harm the environment.
Next, I would highly recommend Kiehl Body Lotion. This is one of the best lotions on the market. Its heavy, but soaks in fast and gives you a healthy shiny look to your skin. I gave this to my mom for Christmas, and she loves it! Not only are all the ingredients safe, but the bottle is made from recycled materials...A win-win!
You can ask any of my friends and family; it is a running joke that I am obsessed with sunscreen. I am that girl at the beach that is bathing in 75 SPF and making sure everyone around me is covered in "block"! Sayer makes a great light weight sunscreen for your face that you can use everyday before you put on your make-up. This organic sunscreen/moisturizer will not cause breakouts and is ideal for every skin type.
Its time for a pedi!! My favorite "at home pedi" is to soak your feet in a bin of orange juice for 15 min. Then, make a mix of 2 cups sugar and 1 cup extra virgin olive oil, and scrub away (some recipes call for mint or different scents but those items are just for aesthetics and experience purposes)! The OJ helps to soften your skin and the sugar and oil helps to exfoliate the dry skin away. Its organic and cheap!
Last but definitely not least, your toes!! I recommend trying Honeybee Gardens polish. There are a lot of great water-based colors on the market so keep trying them until you find one brand that fits your personality best. The best thing about eco-friendly polish is you can take it off with vodka. You can take off your polish and have a cosmo without even skipping a beat!

Put away your turtle necks and bust out the self tanner-Spring is a couple weeks away! My 3 favorite things about Spring are the weather (patio socializing :-)), new trends, and freshening up my closet. I can see the beads of sweat rising on your forehead...don't fret! Here are some easy tips to keep you trendy, save money, and make your spring cleaning a breeze.
First, I want you to evaluate your Spring/Summer wardrobe and group together everything that fits NOW. Then toss/donate items that look tired or too worn. Next, group all similar pieces together, for example, put all short sleeve shirts together, skirts, pants, jeans...etc. This will help ease the frustration in the mornings when trying to pick something to wear. Finally, take this list of 10 must haves for Spring/Summer and cross check it with your existing wardrobe. You will find that you probably already have at least a couple of these items. This list is here to help you buy efficiently for the upcoming season. You do not have to spend tons of money! Just pick what feels comfortable for you, and mix these new items with your current items, and you will find you now have a whole new modern fashionable wardrobe!
****If you get too excited about Spring and turn your hands orange like a pumpkin (from the self tanner) try toothpaste...there is something in toothpaste that takes the orange right out! Sadly I learned this trick from too many unfortunate encounters with a grouchy spray tan machine. And yes I blame the machine and not my insatiable need to be fabulous in my cute maxi dress.

Out with the cold in with the Spring...
In these uncertain economic times everyone wants to save money. Reusing items helps to put money back in your pocket (or if you are girl it puts money in your cute oversized, overpriced, and overstuffed handbag). Here is a list of items you can take with you into the Spring/Summer season.
1. Leggings-wear them all year they are even showing liquid leggings through the Summer.
2. Chunky rings-wear all your winter jewelry into the spring just pair it with some bright colored bracelets or earrings and you will be set!
3. Berry colored tops-wear with a fun light weight scarf in a complementing color to update the top. Just make sure the top is not a winter fabric.
4. Wide leg jeans-these are a must throughout Spring and Summer
5. Skinny belt-keep wearing your skinny belt at the smallest part of your waist. You can also go with a wide belt this Spring and Summer.
6. The statement necklace-is still hot hot hot! Just keep in mind color. Make sure you pair it with something light weight and mix with a bright color.
7. Short/shrunken jacket-wear all the way through Spring-even leather is ok!
8. Riding boots-wear till about Spring break after that I will be putting mine away.
9. Patten leather shoes-as long as they are light weight and not a super thick shoe you can wear them all Spring and Summer make sure they are at least peep toe though.
10. Bootie shoe-if they are heavy or dark colored retire them around Spring break. If they are peep toe and not a heavy weight like suede or a thick leather you are good to go. Keep wearing them with your skinny jeans.
I hope this helps! Just be creative and mindful of your fabrics and you can make anything work. I will be putting a list of the must haves and colors for Spring/Summer so stay tuned!

Is picking a pair of jeans just not in your genes?
One question I always get asked during a session is "what jeans should I buy???"
Jeans are a great investment piece I always tell my clients to invest in 2 pairs of nice jeans. They will last for years and you will wear them almost every day. There are 3 things to keep in mind when picking a pair of jeans. First, always go dark...the darker the better. Dark denim always looks classy and more dressy so you are able to wear them for most occasions. Dark jeans also slim your silhouette (which is the most important part). Never buy stone washed or light colored jeans EVER unless you are going to a party where it is required to look like a cast member from Saved By The Bell. Second, take your height and body shape into consideration. If you are petite you should stay away from wide leg stick with a boot or straight leg cut. If you are tall you can pull off most any cut of jean just make sure it fits at the thigh and that they are long enough. You can get the waist altered its better to make the jean fit you rather than squeeze into a smaller size and look like you are packed in like a roll of pennies. If you are full figured stick with a boot cut or a wide leg (not too wide) to balance out your body shape. Lastly, make sure your jeans fit you and take a moment in the dressing room to bend over to make sure your plumbers crack is not flashing the world. To quote Whitney Houston "crack is whack"...to prevent this embarrassing peep show go up a size or move on to another brand or cut. Also, to prevent a muffin top go up a size as well...please don't get hung up on a number no one ever sees that tiny little number what they DO see is how your clothes fit you so dress for YOUR body not a number.
I just found two new brands of jeans I am in love with! Try Genetic Denim its a new brand and they will run you about $150-$175. I just got a pair and they are amazing I love them b/c they sit higher on my waist which helps you to appear slimmer and they are so soft they feel like pajama pants! I also just got a pair of wide leg jeans made by Level 99 they will run you about $100 but they look like $300 designer jeans. A couple other brands I would recommend are Citizen's, J Brand, Rock Revival, or Rock N Republic. They also have this new amazing brand of jeans for women they are called Not Your Daughters Jeans and they are incredible. They are cut a bit wider on the thigh and fit higher on the waist. These jeans also have more structure around the front to help hold in your tummy.
For men I would recommend Sevens, Rock N Republic, William Rast, Diesel, or Rock Revival. Rock Revival will run you about $149 and they look much more expensive. Men keep in mind not to get too trendy with the pockets and make sure the jeans are long enough. The cuff should skim the bottom of the heal of your shoe.
